All installed. Man, what a nice upgrade. Took a legitimate 15 minutes to install it. This thing is sweet.

Nice looking rig! You going to lap them rings before you put the scope on?

Well I already put the scope on. I've never lapped rings before and didn't think I'd need to. If you talk me into it I'll do it. Wasn't sure it was necessary.

A lot of people  don't lap. I just hate to see good glass put into rings that aren't. If you're going to be dialing the scope, I think it's a good idea to lap. That way you know the rings are perfectly aligned and you won't get ring marks. You can also tell how well aligned the rings are by slightly rolling the scope in the rings with the top half off. If they're crooked, it'll bind. Very few rings that I've seen are perfectly aligned and perfectly round after being tightened down.

If it's already mounted I'd just roll with it for now. You can always come back later and lap if you wish.

I'm kind of anal about mounting scopes....heard too many stories of mounts failing. I epoxy my bases to the receiver, use loctite etc.

Thanks. I have to pull the scope out of the rings again anyway, so maybe I'll give it a shot. I don't have the materials to do it myself but maybe I'll ask around.

Nice setup. What does that end up weighing as it is now. Great caliber.

Jackelope,

I was hoping to make it on Tuesday to talk to you about this rig.  I have a stainless fluted Sendero in .25-06 that is probably 15-20 years old.  It has the stock trigger in it.
At the time, Timney triggers were available, but I never considered one as I was able to adjust the factory trigger to about 2-3 lbs. and still have it nice and crisp (as far as I could tell!)

What is it that the Timney gives you over the standard stock trigger?

Scott-
It ends up being on the heavy side. I think it's about 10.5-11 pounds. I went looking for my fish scale last night but couldn't find it. Decided it was more important to go to sleep. I'll post the weight when I can find it.

Honestly Dave, this is the first upgraded trigger I've had.  A lot of people don't like the X-Mark Pro trigger and I think they had some slam fire issues? The Timney is easily adjustable, obviously better made and very crisp. I want to find or buy a trigger scale so I make sure I don't set it too light. This one adjusts 1.5-4 pounds. I think 2.5-3 pounds is where I'll want to be. I think if I were to guess, it's on the lower end of the adjustment range.

The 512 trigger is what I put in it.
