I'd send that gun back. My Sendero can shoot MUCH better than that group!
Looks like a keeper!

It's really hard to shoot for tight groups. Makes me wonder if I should be doing this off of a sled. Maybe to get my handloads worked up I'll bring the lead sled.

Well, that looks like about 1/2 to 3/4 MOA (I'm assuming it's at 100 yards). How much tighter do you want?
I'd be very happy with that, especially for the first time shooting it!

In my experience a Lead Sled will not improve groups over a rifle that is properly supported and fired off a pedestal and sandbags.
The greatest factor is sample size. One group is too small a sample to draw conclusions on. Think of throwing 100 darts at a dartboard. Somewhere in that string are three sequential tosses that land very close to each other. Somewhere in that string are three sequential tosses that are far apart. Which group accurately represents your ability to throw darts?
There are lots of guns whose owners claim "shoots MOA" because they did one time.
Unless you get some really unacceptable groups, I would shoot several groups before concluding too much.
Your group looks quite promising.

I dont have anything to measure with. 100 yards. I'll measure later.

I prefer load development done at 300yds, when the bullet is actually stabilized the groups look good

Once I get our reloading stuff up and running, I'll spend more time doing the load development stuff and the longer range shooting. Today, I really just wanted to shoot it a little. First I used the ammo that my friend gave me. Handloads he had for his rifle. 100 grain Sierra Spitzers. I used these to get on paper. I bore sighted it using the method where you pull the bolt out of the action, look down the barrel and adjust the scope to center. I wasn't on paper, but I was on the 2nd shot.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th shots were these:
I shot a few more of those and then went to the HSM factory ammo loaded with 115 grain Bergers. I've never really tried to shoot for tight groups before and ended up with a few groups that looked basically like this:
The orange dot is 1".
I got settled down and thought about and concentrated on shooting tight groups. Got a couple good ones. Best one was this one.
It's tough to shoot for tight groups. I could see my pulse moving the crosshairs around. Not a lot, but still some movement. Anyway, this rifle looks pretty promising. I'm real excited because I don't think I've ever had a rifle that shot this well. Sorry for the long winded blah blah blah...

Easiest way for me to shoot groups is use the smallest point of aim you can. Looking good sofar. Just over 1/2 CTC isn't nothing to complain about either

For running just a few rounds of ammo down range. That is looking like it will shape up to be a great shooter

Oh man I'd love it. After a crappy trip out west for my buddies this year, I owe them a fun time and I think that will probably be the way we go next time they come this way.
