1-It definitely works better on an actual GPS.2- I think it's worth having on your phone. You do have to download maps for where you want to use them before you leave cell service. It uses lots of battery and lots of storage on your phone but it does work pretty well. If you want public/private land info and landowner info, it's good. If you just want something along the lines of a standard GPS, I think there are other options.
I usually buy 2-3 states every year. Typically, I cringe at the cost and then it ends up being the best spent money. This year, my daughter lined up on the corner of one property and bagged a great buck on the corner of another one. We absolutely wouldn't have pushed the shot without knowing exactly where we were.
