T3, stainless/synthetic, 7mm-08.....exactly like the one resting against the 300WSM in my safe.
I would buy an upgraded ring setup....deadnutz, talley or warne.

.270 is a great all-around caliber that will get the job done. Like was mentioned, Stainless is the way to go over here on the wetside. My buddy shoots his dad's old rifle that is wood/blued and I cringe every time I look at it.

took two deer this year with my tikka in 300 win. this is my favorite riffle, nay my favorite firearm that i own. with my finely tuned reloads i shoot very small clover leafs  about 1 inch high dead center at 200 yrds and a little over a inch and a quarter high at 100 yards. thats plenty good for my hunting  ;)

No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders.

I worked up some load for my brother Tikka Lite Hunter in 300 Win Mag.  I had a brake put on it b/c of recoil.

Picture says it all.  Velocity was a little low but accuracy was good.

Picture says

200 yards,
71 grains of RL 19
165 Grain Accubonds

I would recommend a .308 for deer, bear and coyotes, even short range for elk.  Recoil is minimal, and ammo is everywhere.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

If you cant shoot well enough to kill deer, bear and elk with a 308, you do not belong hunting at all.
