Potholes weekend
« on: January 24, 2016, 08:32:35 PM »
Headed over to potholes this weekend for a Friday afternoon hunt, Saturday and Sunday morning hunt with my dad. Found some open water and had an incredible time. Lots of divers but mostly passed on those waiting on mallards. Ended up shooting my first redhead (2 redheads not pictured), doubled on geese, a banded mallard, and my first banded pintail. A hunt with my dad that will always hold a special place in my heart.

Looks like a great hunt!  Congrats on the banded birds.  A little bit of luck on the trip.
Cut em!

Love the pic with your dog and the banded pinny!  If you guys mount that bird, that pic would look great next to it.  Great memories with your dad

Thanks! And the mallard was banded in August 2015 grant country near George. And the pintail was banded in August 2008 in Ohio.

The crab creek launch is open? I was there a week ago and it had 6 inches of ice!

You have to mount the pintail. SORRY.
A remarkable experience is one where the pain is forgotten so quickly, the frustrations and struggles are forgotten the minute you’re done.

I can’t wait to do it the next time.

I would have got the pintail mounted if I didn't already have one at home and I'm already planning on getting the redhead from the trip mounted

Great hunt and photos.  Picture of your dog and the Sprig is super great!  Good looking dog do you know the breeding lines?

This is what more posts should look like more often, good hunt, report and photos..... Good work.  😎
