I think the guy running the x-ray machine at the airport might poop a little when that head goes through.

The history of John Parker and the cattle business in Hawaii are pretty interesting. I thought it strange that there were so many hard core cowboys on the big island.

Great pig Antlerhound ....A buddy of mine that I used to box with back in the day went to work their years ago. When I talked to him last (years ago) he said it was a "class act" operation. Congrats on a great animal

Nice boar!  I hunted Maui back in 2007 and had a great time. We ran them with dogs and used a knife. Great experience. I brought back about 50lbs of meat and the teeth. I didn't get a big boar so didn't worry about a European mount.

Rough looking customer!  (not you, the boar)

Much of a hunt story?  Spot and stalk?  Looks like some good relaxing weather

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

It was kind of a last minute deal...I had hoped to hunt with dogs...but not enough notice... After seeing the land... Which was wide open spaces...with about 2ft high grass. On one side you can see the ocean and on the other Mauna Kea a 13796 ft dormant volcano.... I was expecting a jungle.. But it reminded me of Montana in spring.  So I was kind of happy to be hunting the spot and stalk method.  The pigs are plentiful but spotting the boars with sizeable cutters in the tall grass isn't easy. In the middle of the day they hide in deep washouts that are 20 ft across and just as deep. Spotted this guy coming out of little cave and watched him bed in the grass.. snuck upto about 50 yards... And the rest is history.....Had a great time and definitely something I will never forget.

Did some training on the big island, and your right, 1 mile from the water it turns from island to Montana real quick.  Never got to hunt there, but there are a lot of game animals, and tons of pigs in and near Pohakaloa Training Area.  If you ever get the chance to hike or ride up Manau Kea, you will never forget the view.  Also although Oahu is a little more guarded with locals only hunting, there are a lot of pigs in the jungle areas there....we had a few run ins with them while I was there.

Turkeys were everywhere... I don't think I've ever seen that many turkeys in one day...  Lots of big Ol toms too
