I've had no issues or complaints with them.

Benchmark does an exceptional 338 barrel too.

I have run them in years past. I am running more benchmark and Krieger these days. I had pretty good luck with them but like the other two much more.

I have 2 benchmark "30-378 and 7mm stw" barrels and a 3rd "6.5 stw" just about done. I have 2 Kriegers one on a 300 win and one on a 340wby.

You cant go wrong with either in my mind.

If you don't want to wait for one and just buy one. 3rd gen is a great place. Don't know what contour you are looking for but here is the benchmarks they have in:
http://store.thirdgenerationshootingsupply.com/browse.cfm/2,6623.html

They are out of 338 kriegers right now.

Have a PAC-NOR on my 338-06 and a Lilja on my 280ai, love them both. I know of two other 338-06's wearing PAC-NOR's and they, along with my mine, shoot consistently around .75" 5 shot groups when the shooter is doing their part. My 280ai shoots well enough to keep holes touching each other at 200 yards but it also much friendlier to shoot of the bench and not meant as a brush gun like the 338-06's are so I ask more out of it than the 338.

Long story short, between PAC-NOR and Lilja I don't think you can go wrong. The guy cutting your chamber and the reamer will probably be the bigger factor in accuracy than the difference between the barrels from those two companies. I've never had experience with Krieger's or Benchmark's but I wouldn't hesitate to use them either.

I have a couple of Pac Nors and like them , threy were nice to work with when I was building a new wildcat.

Suprisingly I have two ER Shaw barrels that shoot very well also., a 6mm-204 and a 222Rem.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

No personal experience with pac nor. I have heard good things tho. I have 2 Lilja barrels 223 wylde 20inch and a Ruger 204 17inch. No complaints at all beautiful pieces of pipe. My bucket is either 24-26 inch 6.5 Grendel or a 260 using Lilja  :twocents:. Have fun building
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

I've had 2 Pac-Nor barrels and they were both great. My 300 WSM was a legitimate .3 MOA barrel right up until it hit almost 1200 rounds. The other was a 6mm BR which shot in the .3 MOA range most of the time but would group in the .2s on a good day. I wouldn't hesitate to get another one.

It's been 30 years since I shot silhouettes.  So take it for what it's worth.  But my competition rifle had a PAC-NOR barrel and it was a fantabulous shooter!  We were not shooting hot magnums back then, but we did put one heck of a lot of bullets down the tube.  I actually thought it shot better the day I gave it away than it did when the sergeant gave it for me new in box.

Pac-Nor barrels have performed well for me. I had Pac-Nor do a couple Rem700 re barrel jobs. Sent them the actions and they trued them and fit the barrels and their local for me.

I hope you stocked up on brass.  338RUM is hard to find.

Always seems to be plenty of Nosler brass available...if you don't mind $3 a round just for brass :o
