Red Stagg mount from Hungary
« on: January 29, 2016, 02:17:59 PM »
I have received my Red Stagg from Hungary which I am very happy with I won't lie to you I was really nervous because a lot of European taxidermists can compete with most American taxidermist there is crappy ones too. It's not perfect but I love it the only problem is I didn't realize how big the antlers are so its too high for our low ceilings

Can you cut the pedestal down so that you have room?

That should be pretty easy to do. Any high schools around you with a wood shop?   Bet they could do s great job for you.  Beautiful mount!

Easy to do, just carefully remove the bottom trim so that it can be reused after being cut to fit, no stain matching required.

I was thinking it should be cut off the top to keep the base area large enough. But a foot or so may not make that much difference off the bottom.

Not sure that would work, it looks like the top piece attached to the elk might slide over the bottom part.  It is hard to tell from the photos though. You might have a point on it being tippy with a smaller base.

Any good, creative wood worker should be able to figure out something if it was in front of them.  Matching stain can probably be figured out by talking to the original builder of the pedestal.

It would have to be taken off the bottom because the top part fits in the top of the pedestal and the part on the red Stagg
