Bone couldn't have taken that picture! It's all fuzzy and out of focus... Unless that's to hide the fence in the background!  :chuckle:

Looks like that other non-typ WT was taking by the same guy.
Which other non-typical? I was there and picked up Josh Johnson's non-typical because he couldn't make it back on Sunday. It scored 191 6/8. It's legit and a heck of a buck but I didn't see another entry from the #1 guy.

So we finally have some answers.  A new Washington state record! Non-typical whitetail, scored 246 2/8. Taken by Buddy Hughes in Asotin County, 2013.  I'm surprised this Buck remained under the radar for this long! Awesome deer! Congrats to the hunter!

Are there answers or just a name to go with the buck? Anyone actually know Buddy Hughes?
Where has this buck been or his sheds been for the last __ years? The hunting community is a small world.
 :dunno:
Very strange.

I'm a jerk but I keep chanting in my head "DNA TEST DNA TEST"

That looks like a farm raised deer.

Im with you guys, I would love to know more about this deer too, but I guess I don't find it as hard to believe as some of you that there might be a hunter out there who doesn't care about the spotlight.

You mean one that enters into a Horns competition where the public is going to come for prize money and the like.... that kind of non-spotlight sort of guy.  Too many inconsistencies with this buck being from where they rumor it to be..... no sheds, no locals with any knowledge... doesn't add up.

Perhaps a deer shot out of season would not surface for three years.
By then the evidence would be gone.

Congrats to the hunter.

Asotin holds some ranch land that very, very few ever see.

Go to Russ McDonald's photos on the first page and look at the fifth photo down from the top. You will see a heavy buck on the left side of the photo. If you zoom in on that you will see the name of the hunter listed on the second line up from the bottom.... It's not easy to see but it says "Buddy Hughes".

I will not say who told me or how I know the person who told me, or how they know Buddy. But they do know him and This deer was killed in British Columbia and at a high fence hunt. This is sad to see it made our record book with no proof it was shot here. The guy must have taken a old tag and used it. That's all I'm going to say about it.

You just never know what is going to pop up.....

Interesting counteracting posts.

You need to come clean with info. Or get someone on here that's not afraid to tell the truth.  :twocents:

I don't know any details but this buck would me much more believable if they said ferry county. Lots of unknowns there. Asotin just seems like someone would know of that buck. Not accusing or anything here as I know absolutely nothing about that buck or hunter.

Info like whether he actually had permission to be on the land he killed his buck on?  :chuckle:
