:yeah:I would guess it was just a hail mary to try and get something, super stud buck!
Exactly what it was."...Holy mother of God, try to get a photo of that thing.  No one will believe me...."

They don't tend to get that big by standing around either :chuckle:

Here is a BC high fence operation.. a lot of big WT but I didn't see any that looked like those two...certainly some similar characteristics on few though.

And I love this line in their online brochure, concerning their trophy whitetail hunting.

"Now that said, some guys are going to want specific qualities in a Buck and these bucks need to be "Special Order" , by that I mean, Bucks that hunters want to harvest that have  drop tines, webbing, large 180+ typical's, extra wide, etc., etc., Bucks like this we can get, and prices for them fall into the same pricing schedule. "

So in other words, if you are willing to pay them, they will make sure you harvest the buck you pay for. In spite of their claim on their website that "this a REAL HUNT, and VERY Fair Chase! These deer live and die on this ranch, and are SUPER SPOOKY! Even though these deer are "Fenced In", all of our hunters say these deer are wild suckers and exactly like hunting any other whitetail deer anywhere else, just that we can control the hunting pressure and harvest to allow the deer to grow to maturity, supplement them with feed and manage the genetic base for trophy quality."

Mail order trophy bucks. What has the world of hunting come to?

Oh man, it gets better! After reading their claim that "this a REAL HUNT, and VERY Fair Chase! I find this on their web site.

"You know you are a small personalized operation when the Outfitters dog is a member of the team. Well ask any Silvertine client and they will say "Heck Ya" Yogi is as instramental as Steve in the smooth operation of Silvertine. Yogi has many talents, and the biggest one is his nose. Yogi has alerted us while still hunting by smelling elk and deer that were bedded in the thick brush a short distance away that we never would have seen otherwise, and walked right by, so you could say he is a guide, and to his credit has guided to numerous elk and deer. Yogi's skills as a tracker would make a Masai warrior scratch his head in disbelief, he is damn good at it, and he has always found our "game" when he was put to the test."

How many record keeping organizations consider using dogs to hunt deer and elk to be fair chase?

Peopel in eastern VA hunt with dogs all the time... and I'm sure other places.  Tradition and perfectly legal.  People here hunt cougars and bears.

I thought it was cool that they have a well trained dog.  Very slick/sneaky.

I'm not seeing the problem?  :dunno:

Seems pretty sporting, animal can't escape or hide.  I wonder if it's tranquilizer or tied down.  Perfectly legal in some states I'm sure.

I wasn't trying to say it was a problem.  I was just surprised to see a dog there.  (could just be ignorance on my part)  I have a well behaved dog but couldn't imagine hunting with her.

For the most part, it's illegal here in Washington.

Quote
While hunting enthusiasts in some states benefit from the use of hunting dogs to chase or retrieve game, hunters in Washington face strict regulations when hunting with dogs. Permitted uses for dog hunting are primarily when upland bird hunting, with a few species exceptions.

Other than that, hunters should keep their animals at home when taking game in order to avoid violating state hunting regulations

I realize WA is very nanny state (more-so than most), but I'm not 100% this is illegal?  Can anyone confirm with certainty?  (I'm hoping this wouldn't be another vague law that can be interpreted by who ever is enforcing it at the time?)

Still kinda cool little dog.

Stud deer, thanks Russ for all the photos and thanks Bone for your photo.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Not sure what any of this has to do with a high fence operation in Canada.  :chuckle:
