My 2015-2016 waterfowl season
« on: January 31, 2016, 09:25:46 PM »
This season was a decent one for me. The valley was very dry early in the season and there just wasn't very many birds around. On opening day we shot 4 limits of mallards and 2 banded greenheads.

The second day of the season I shot a mixed bag and I got a banded greenhead as well. Didn't get out much until mid November due to the low water and lack of birds. But found a few and had a decent hunt on a windy day, killed the only 2 gaddies I got all year.

Had a good mixed bag shoot at an old haunt that I hadn't hunted in over 3 years because it was getting so much pressure and the birds quit using it. Was nice to find it was almost untouched this year and I had a very nice solo hunt.

We finally got a decent influx of water in the valley in December and the ducks really showed up, had sever good shoots and killed some quality birds. I usually only hunt by myself but had some good hunts with buddies as well.

A good buddy and I hiked in over 2 miles and had an awesome hunt in an ice hole in early January. Ran over 300 ducks off the water that morning.

Came up 1 short on this ice hole hunt but we worked our tails off for em and we got our 4 nice drake pins so we were pretty happy.

Found a spot that was holding a lot of birds and 3 of us had a great shoot, 3 limits and 3 geese, went all drakes on this day.

And finally my last good hunt of the season last Friday. Braved the monsoon rains and wind and shot a solo limit at the local refuge in another ice hole. Most of the birds finished well and besides getting soaked it was a great morning.
