4200 Yards ! 16 FEET high at 100 sightin.
« on: February 01, 2016, 08:39:02 AM »
Interesting facts about xtra long range shooting - 4200 yards using benchmark barrel.

"There is a tolerable impact range when you consider these statistics:

Bullet Flight Time:10.5 seconds

Muzzle Velocity Extreme Spread:10 fps. This generates over 12 feet of impact spread at 4210 yards.

Wind during 10.5 second time of flight:1 mph change or error in wind call will move impact almost 10 feet.

Spin Drift: In our right hand twist barrel, we dialed in 2.3 mils of windage to account for spin drift. That is about 29 feet at this distance.

No kidding.  Thinking of setting up a rig for 3 miles - looking at this as my scope mount base.  Thoughts?

2.3 mils at that range seems like it'd be more then 29 feet. Dang that's a long shot though! I shot out to 1,000 before. Hit 20+ Feet low using a M77 30-06 and some Kentucky windage. Kneeling. Probably 10-20 feet left. It's was the worst shot ever. Pretty much. Haha

I'm an idiot. Mils not MOA
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Just came across the video for this shot, so I figured I'd post it up.  Crazy stuff!
