Got another beaver today and he weighed 32 lbs. Came from a spot that I have trapped the last three years and never got one, even though there has always been sign. Last year I found a den up under the bank that has been used for many years and has a nice beaver slot going to it. I had a trap there for like two weeks and  never got anything. This year there was fresh sign around it again and it took four days for me to finally get one out of it.
My new cage worked out perfect. I figured the 36" trap would be plenty long enough to get the beaver in.
Fur is nice and thick and I think I am going to try and brain tan it. Seems simple enough.

Conibear trigger. Same in my cat traps. Simple and very reliable.

Another cat today. Looked like it was probably 10-12 lbs so I figured I would just let it go. Couldnt tell if it was male or female but figured it was more than likely a female. Had decent spots on it too. I rebaited the cage and put it back. Hopefully the smell will bring in a bigger male cat at some point. The general area around this spot has lots of fresh cat poo so I figured it wouldnt be long before I caught one out of here.

There was probably another 2 lbs of meat that was in there that's missing from yesterday.

Not sure why it is but this cat plus the one I got a few days ago were crazy aggressive. Growled, hissed and lunged at me the whole time. Last year all three of my cats were big toms and they pretty much sat there quiet the whole time no matter how close I got. :dunno:
