Probably wouldn't use them to shoot beef.....but they sure work good on elk!

Beef or elk shoulder? :)

No, but killed 3 mature bulls (elk) with double lung shots.

How bought you....any failures with expandable on shoulders...on elk that is?

I have never been a big fan of the HIT system.  But I have used the FMJ to kill a few elk - all broadside chest shots.  All complete pass thru.  I have never experienced any failure even close to that.  Not even when using aluminum ferruled broadheads.  Got to wonder if the insert this guy is using was not properly glued.  I never use the epoxy Easton sends with the arrows.  Even after cleaning the shaft id with alcohol I didn't like the bond I got.  Ended up using Black Max Loc-Tite and never had an issue.  Curious if that would have made a difference.

This year Easton is offering a 6-40 stainless steel Deep Six insert that will fit the X-shaft diameters.  So the old FMJ and Axis shafts can be used as Deep Six compatible shafts.  Not sure I would use an aluminum ferrule in 6-40 but we will have a titanium DelMastro and VanDyke in Deep Six this year.  Slick Trick has a Deep Six that looks good and I think there are a couple other steel ferruled models coming out this year.  Might strengthen those HIT shafts quite a bit!

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Elk shoulders are pretty "beefy"

[Elk shoulders are pretty "beefy"]

Ya, better shot is the double lung.

Just sayin that beef ribs vs. elk ribs doesn't seem to be a real fair comparison.  Beef seem thicker, stronger, more dense.  Would have been nice to see the demonstration done on a lighter boned animal....more comparable to elk.  Also would have liked to see a fixed blade demonstration on the same/equal target.  Just for comparison.

Although, I likely wouldn't change to fixed blade since the Rage has produced incredible results for me and my hunting partners.  Big wound channels and deep penetration on big bodied elk out to 62 yards.  Hard for me to argue with success.

I hear you

My biggest thing is minimizing the risk should I hit a rib dead center.
