06 Ram front end parts
« on: April 03, 2016, 08:16:56 PM »
Have an 06 ram 4x4 diesel and the front end is going to need some parts real soon. What is the best aftermarket brand for ball joints, tie rod ends and bushings, also can anyone reccomend a good web site for purchase?

I think Moog is pretty good stuff.  I'd send "Rick" a pm and see what he says if he doesn't chime in here on his own. He's pretty knowledgeable in the aftermarket. Whatever you get, make sure the joints are grease-able via zerk fittings.

X2. Had to do the entire front end on my 08 and am happy with the Moog parts (lifetime warranty supposedly). If you really want to spend some $$$ look at Carli.

I used Carli Ball Joints.  $800 for all 4 but well worth it with a lifetime warranty.

Ive read a lot of bad reviews on Moog joints.

What ever you get just make sure they are greasable.

:yeah:   That's what I'd use if you have the money. I didn't at the time and put in greaseable joints from NAPA with lifetime warranty I believe. Did that at 80,000 now have 137,000 and still holding strong. Might also look at your front coils springs. If they are not holding up there end it causes stress on everything else up there. I replaced mine with aftermarket's by Git Spring in Auburn. I also have a winch up front  so is was really needed.

I've heard zero complaints about the Carli's. All of the others I've read a complaint in some form or another.

Our local alignment guy swears by Moog, I have had two friends take trucks to him (both 3rd gen cummins like yours) for front end rebuilds neither have enough miles to comment on the ball joints yet. One guy has had a moog drag link bend during normal in town and highway driving  :yike:. The other truck is having the same issue now, the more it gets driven the more the wheel becomes off center. It's hard to believe a drag link would bend that easily but I saw the pics and I know they don't beat the crap out of the trucks.

Good info folks. Does anyone run the dynatrac ball joints? Looks like they can be rebuilt in place. Was also looking at the carli's yesterday, they seem pretty solid.

Isn't there a place in Everett that sells aftermarket Dodge 4x4 front end parts. Turning hubs etc.. ?
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............
