Coy wolf
« on: February 05, 2016, 06:08:44 PM »
I don't tend to grab pics off of Facebook to,share, but this was an interesting one.
On the Colville reservation.

Fur buyer said he thought it was a coy wolf.   39 pounds.
I've seen a couple I thought might be.

Looks like a big coyote to me too.

Dark color makes me think Shepard 5 or 6 generations ago.  Little feet and pointy nose makes me think 15/16 coyote.  Good size and as bushy as they come.

Nothing but a fat coyote. If it's the local fur buyer on the rez, I'd believe they'd say that. :twocents:

I see coyotes like that often. See a lot of darker coyotes around these parts

I think I remember Sly Gipson turning in a 47 pound male in Idaho, Gem State Predator Hunters Club contest in 2005. From what I have read the Coywolf, run like 70 lbs.

Last year hunting Aladdin Unit saw a dog which at first appeared to be small wolf, but it was hanging out with another that was a definite yote... I've wondered if it was a coy wolf...  same size dogs... Two completely different coats
