I know they stand out like lighthouses from 6 ridges over.

have never saw the point of wearing camo with orange over the top.  My granda parents lived on prince of whales island for 15 years, and that is how they knew if you were local or a cityiot.

I started wearing camo with my hunter orange after I ruined a ton of "regular" clothes. The dirt and stains don't show on camo. Not only that but I also used to take off my orange and hang it on a tree above me. In camo I was hidden but most of the "hunting herd" could see the orange.

I'm with you billy, we wear our camo because it is our best all weather clothing. The blaze is on because it's the law when there are Cityiots running all over the hills with rifles.

Started going through the gear tonight. Time to change from 80 degree hunting to subzero.  I'll be spending one long ungly night in one of the most in-hospitable places on earth.  That fly will  be no Montana Canvas wall tent..thats for sure.  All of you guys begging for snow are killing me.

170 or bust!

Finally got my eyeballs on one of the blacktail bucks cruisin his strip this morning. Damn they are like ghosts, but I knew they were there as I hit the buck rubs and saw sign... As someone said though "does don't live in vacuums"  :chuckle:  Otherwise I wouldn't have believed they existed.  :dunno:

I think my truck will be ready within the next 7-10 days. I might be able to go over the big hill and find me some venison if all goes well - or if I don't nail one of the blacktails in the local neighborhood.

I wear Carhearts camo jeans while hunting. Not so much for the camo as much as durability. They seem to last forever.

Everything I buy that is orange, I take a black magic marker to it for breakup. Deer and elk may not see color but like Bear, Bone, and Billy said, they can see contrast and movement real well, and a big piece of day glow against something dark is like waving a white flag.

I also wear my camo clothes that I archery hunt in during rifle season. For one I don't want to spend a bunch of dough on clothes I already have. Also my camo gear is comfortable, quiet and water proof, nothing like wearing wet wranglers and micro fleece and being 2 miles from the truck! I do have a reversable fleece jacket that is camo on one side then orange on the other, but with my day pack and my crooked horn bino harness on my chest its broke up anyway! If a buck sees me moving first, it don't matter what you are wearing he will bust! If you keep the wind in your favor and wear quiet clothes(not denim of any kind!) and hunt smart like a predator, your going to be ok! Denim is okay for road hunting and birds, but not deer or elk, IMHO.

Looking for a 3 pt. or better in Republic,

Finnman

haha fin, i must not have gotten the memo. i hunt in jeans or carharts and whatever shirts and jacket and i throw in my bag for the week. if it's super wet i wear grey wool pants or thow my gortex shell pants on over my jeans. doesn't seem to bother the deer i hunt, i regularly pass over a half dozen bucks each season waitin for ol' mossyback to step out. i always get a good laugh when i see the jokers dressed head to tow in thier camo getup with thier faces painted up and all.... SOME people take that stuff way to seriously imo, it's not gurilla warfare here. iv also noticed that the dudes i see a couple miles back in are rarely wearing any sort of camo, contrary to what fin said it seems to be the road hunters that feel the need to be invisible while crusin along glassin stumps. to each his own i guess.

everybody's entitled to an opinion, and i really don't think wearing camo makes anyone a joker or less of a hunter...

Usually the folks that give me crap about being head to toe in camo (archery season only) are the ones who havent harvested a decent buck or bull at less than 50 yards.  Camo and scent elimination DOES help, especially when bowhunting.  I've gots the critters to prove it.  I will agree that it does not matter what you wear if you are taking 200+ yard shots.  I do get a kick out of the roadhunters who are all decked out in the latest that Cabela's has to offer and never step into the woods except to pee or dump garbage.

I am a supporter of camo, but can honestly say I have killed A LOT of bucks wearing blue jeans.  I have also called in a pile of animals while wearing blue jeans.  Wet conditions however is another thing.  Thank god for other materials.
