Man I'm counting down, but its looking like I will be moving into our new place on teh opener instead of being in the hills.  :bash: >:(  I've got the whole week off so perhaps by the end I'll be making it out there, with some weather it could be a great hunt.

I took an evening shift at work for the 2nd part of October. That will give me some trolling time in the mornings. I just need my truck to get fixed ASAP.

The engine is going to get replaced... And maybe the clutch too. It's going to the shop tomorrow morning pronto.

if the $$ is not a huge issue...replace the clutch stuff while the motor is out...you'll thank yourself later. if you're dropping all the coin to do the motor, do the clutch.

Went to the Kenmore range this afternoon to shoot the .300. Tried some new ammo that the gun didn't like...there goes $50 down the drain, and now my shoulder feels nice after 30 rounds. So now I'm either gonna grab the .270 from my dad's house this weekend, or drop more money on another box of ammo to try and get the .300 dialed in. Either way, I can't wait for the opener. I gotta go retrieve my trail cam out of the woods this weekend, so hopefully I will have some good pics on it, so I know where to hunt opening morning.  :IBCOOL:

No I haven't. I used to shoot the Remington Express, and now I'm trying to find something to switch to. I shot a box of the Federal Vital Shok in Barnes Triple Shock X-Bullet, and that is what the gun didn't like. You just have a .300 win-mag?

I'm hunting the 1st 3 days, then back to work for 4 days.  Got saturday and sunday to tag one and then I have the next 2 weeks off to find a big bull for my Peaches permit.  Can't wait, I'm already having a hard time sleeping at night.  Good luck to you all!

I'm heading over to my honey hole for the last weekend of  regular rifle season.  Going to hunt 101 unit whities with my 12 gauge side by side after the crowds peter out.  I probably will not hunt until then.  I have 4 little bucks teasing me in my yard every day and I am trying to keep them here and away from the (shoot anything) city boys that invade this place every fall.  The deer are having a hay day on all the acorns that are hitting the ground on my land right now.
Someone mentioned Federal Fusion rounds.  I bought a couple of boxes and they (165 gr.) shoot great in my old leftie 30-06, Plus they have a $5 a box rebate going on now for all Fusion rifle ammo.

Can't hardly wait for the muzzle opener.  Never been to the NE part of Wash for hunting.  We are all packed and ready to leave Wed evening for the whole season.  Hope to harvest a whitetail and anElk. Private land so odds go up. EXCEPT it is my first year with a muzzleloader after over 40 years with a rifle.  Put the 308 and the 340mag away until Elk hunting in Oregon later in the month :)

Looking for a 170.   This will be the first year to not take all of the season off for vacation.  I decided I usually get it early anyway, I might as well take it all off for Dads November hunt.   I am taking a couple days this week to go photograph moose, and maybe make a mental note of any big bucks in the Panhandle in case I get to go over there.
