Still packing
« on: February 15, 2016, 09:22:57 AM »
I saw 5 spikes. And one HUGE 7x7 bull still packing Saturday. Anybody seeing any elk drop yet? I think still too early.

I seen probably 35 elk today (2 different herds) and no horns but they all could have been cows while the Bulls hid in the tree line like they love to do haha but Friday morning I seen a nice six point still packing

Bulls are in herds and the cows have disappeared. They probably won't drop til March sometime

This is why statewide shedhunting seasons are more than likely in the the works. Elk don't shed till mid march. Less than 5% drop by mid march.

And I'm sure that No one here has picked a freshy before March 15th... You know what they say.. If you can't beat em join em... Statewide shed seasons will do nothing but keep the innocent...innocent and well those who don't care in the first place will continue on the same path... Just like what happens at the feed stations every year...

A very small percentage drop in late feb.  Most in April.  Probably all cows you saw .  All the bulls I see are solo or in bachelor herds this time of year.  Can't wait for the race, have been getting a few deer sheds in the meantime

Maybe not pay, but no shed hunting between this date and that date kind of like the restrictions at oak creek and other feed lots.
If you spend any time watching the yahoos on Facebook talking about chasing the animals down on quads and snow machines, you'd understand better why the potential exists for this season.

If they came out with a shed hunting season you would still have everyone out there looking harassing the animals before season and hiding the sheds they find to come back and grab opening day.  Just like the guys who sneak into oak creek prior to may 1st.  Always thought it was funny when the gate opens and a guy walks straight to a big pile of antlers out of sight.

We don't harass any elk. We just try to see where they are hanging out so we know where to look when they drop.

Shed season wouldbt work. Not enough game wardens to catch people doing it. I havnt ran into a game warden yet. Actually didnt run into one all of hunting season either.

Seen around 20 bulls yesterday, still packing. I don't shed hunt elk in feeding areas but I do not start till may 1st. Went to a place a week early a few years ago and the elk were still packing. Lesson learned.

So I live right down the road from a great spot and I do pick up sheds in march. But I have seen a huge influx of people shed hunting these days. And the people that are chasing the elk is making me sick. Y? Why would u vhasr them? The f... Horns are not goomg to fall off. All our doing is taking the chance of killing the bull. I watch a guy vhasr these elk last or and i went to make sure nothing happened. Well what do u know. The bull I found dead in side the tree line 2 ridges over. I turned that some b in. So yes I agree with a shed season and strictly enforce it. Its crap any more and its not a race.

It's illegal to harrass or persue any wildlife outside of scheduled seasons. Let the laws already in place do the work, not restrict those guys enjoying the outdoors responsibly.

I'm in the kapowsin tree farm almost every weekend.  Saw a huge increase in guys up there this last weekend.  Evidentally the race has begun.  Saw a 7pt bull still packing sunday on the road.  I'm staying out of my good spots for a few more weeks, hopefully others aren't in there pushing bulls around before they drop.

Hopefully the crowd in there is disappointed cause they haven't dropped yet, and maybe they won't come back!

He didn't say where abouts he saw it, but knowing where he goes either on Hancock or around eatonville. And yea same here we leave the animals in peace and dont harass them, just trying to find where they are at

Saw 6 bucks yesterday still packing.  This includes 2 of them that only had one side.
