Salt/Minerals Not Bait
« on: February 16, 2016, 08:09:48 PM »
Looking at the rule proposals.  Salt/ Minerals should not be considered bait.  Deer and Elk do not come into salt like they do a truck load of hay or apples.  Many other states where Baiting is illegal, do not consider minerals to be bait. I would like to hear others opinions.

I'm gonna say that the elk and deer I've had on my cameras come into the salt/minerals pretty darn willingly. The difference is you're not dumping a truckload of salt on the ground. (You don't need to. Shhhh....)

I agree.  Its not enough of an attractant to be an issue.  Ive had alfalfa piles get 20 deer a day every day in november, with animals coming in all day long.  Salt doesnt even come close to doing that.
