bf Goodrich all terrain or Goodyear wrangler duratrac?
« on: February 17, 2016, 09:15:02 AM »
Gonna put new tires on my tacoma, used to running toyo MTS but don't need that aggressive of a tire, plus the mileage sucks. What's everyone's experience I'm these brands? I'm going to run from a 31" to 33" tire.

Both are really good tires for what they are and very comparable performance.  I would go with the ones that I could get the best deal on.

I have 35" Duratracs on my 03' Yukon XL and I have 32" All Terrain on my 93' 4Runner.  I think for an all around performer and wear, I'd go with the All-Terrain.    I really like the Duratrac, the perform very well, but I think they wear a lot quicker do to their softer compound.  Just my experience though

I put BF Goodrich KO2s on my truck last fall, and have been extremely happy with them.  I did take a 2mpg hit but that doesn't matter when you are clinging to a sidehill!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I ran the old BFG AT's on my Tundra and got over 60K out of them. I'm running the new BFG AT's and I really like them, haven't got to really thrash with them yet but no complaints. I almost went with the Duratracs but heard they were a bit soft for full size trucks, they were much better suited for Jeeps and such. don't know if that's true or not just going by what the reviews said.

BFG AT KOs are great tires!
Expensive, but every set I have owned went over 60 k miles, and performed very well.
I will not buy any Goodyear tires. Every set of Goodyear tires I have owned did horribly in rain. Hydro planing and tire spin in wet conditions was the norm.
I would buy Geolanders or Coopers if price of BFGs is too high.

Won't buy Goodyear tires ever again

Get whichever you like the look of best. I had the Duratrac on my Silverado, great tire that lasted 50k+ when rotated every 6 months. Just put the BFG AT KO2 on my 4Runner so far very happy with them in the snow. I really don't think either is a bad tire, so get whichever one looks best to you or you get the best price on.

I should say, I know it's more than just looks, but both are going to perform very well for what it sounds like you would most likely use them if you dont want an MT tire any longer. For the most part they are two very even tires, and if it really comes down to it, isn't the BFG KO series, really the original of the AT/MT type tires that the Duratrac and many others are now a day?

I put 70,000 miles on my duratract,( Toyota Tacoma) maybe a tad more. I drove the truck really hard and lots of miles on gravel rds. I'd go duratracts but have not used the other.
