You find any kills yet? The bear guy said he had a little luck with a cow call. He didn't get one in but had one answer him. Is there lot of snowmoble tracks up there. Can you get in Swamp Ck rd., if so go to the first right and to the gate at the end of the road. Straight back is a new clearcut, to the rt is reprod, and N of the CC is timber with more trails then you can count. Going E on the trails will take you to a huge CC canyon. There was wolves there during elk season.
No kill sites found yet. I have been keeping an eye on the ravens with no luck. No snowmobile tracks over here. You must be talking about fisher ck rd. You can only make it a few hundred yards to the rock pit, so I'll have to hike in 2 3/4 miles. I will run it in the morning, or later this evening. I have classes from my vantage point since light this morning with no movement. Going to head back to camp here in a bit to clean up, change, an reorganize. Shed hunt this spot I've been hiking past an game plan my attack for tonight.

I don't know fisher Ck.Rd, The sign says Swamp Ck, but there is a big rock quarry there. A couple of miles in will get you to the phone booth, you'll know it when you see it. There's a bunch of CC there, I upset a pack there one night with an elk bugle. The gate on to Potlatch ground is another 5 miles back.

On the map it looks like a big meadow about 3 miles in? I'm on my way down there now. Wish I could drive to it. Found a deer leg while shed hunting. Couldn't find the rest.

Love the play by play!

It's a time of year we don't get much of it.  Keep at it, BEST of luck and keep us posted

Okay, so after shed hunting and being unsuccessful I drove down an hiked up swamp ck rd. About 2 miles in some old guy comes flying up on a 4 wheeler. He goes " what are you doing". I say hunting wolves. He goes " get on". Away we went all the way to cop camp. He drove me around and finally dropped me back off at my rig. Old men are awesome. Having to hike all the way there is to much for not enough reward. Way to much snow for me to get anywhere without a lot of struggle. So I moved down towards orfino more and found a good spot. I watched 35 whitetails and 15 elk. Id say this is the highest wintering area. I glassed so long my closed eye wasn't staying closed. I finally broke a plastic spoon an tucked it under my beanie. That was much nicer. That's all I got tonight. Lasagna with meat sauce and bed.

If he's the one that leases cop camp I know who you talking about, I'm not good with names. There's another couple of old guy camps down Bear Ck Rd. Its tough hunting wolves, I've hunted over the 3 years and saw a flash of one wolf and fresh tracks. Its more luck then anything.

Morning day 6. Started off slow with around 20 whitetails and 14 elk. As I was scanning at 9:45 I took a bite of yogert look back through thespotter and there was two streaks running through thebrush. My heart and adrenaline shot sky high. Once they got in a clearing I could see it was wt's. Something spooked them but never saw what it was. I spilled the whole bucket of yogert too. >:(
Took a 3 hr hike without seeing a wolf track. Disappointed with that since I felt this was my best chance in the best area I've found.
Have not seen 1 lion track or scat.
Have not seen 1 mule deer.
Have not found a shed. I'm the worlds worst horn hunter.
Will not ever be able to clean all this yogert up.

End night 6. Seeing tons of wt's. I could have shot 50 today. 38-40 elk total today. No wolves. I really need one to wander in sight. My rifle won't look at me anymore. She's upset she hasn't got used. Still have high hopes.

End day 7. Hiked back to a clear cut basin an set up this morning. Waited till it got light and tried to range some spots. No range finder. No deer or elk either. Until I started distress calls, whitetails started coming in. I felt a little like I was baiting with live bait. Came out at noon an searched my rig for my rangefinder. No luck. Hiked back out where I was yesterday an found it :) drove back up and hiked back up to Jericho mt for a half hr of light, great set up with no results. All in now as tomorrow is my last full day. 8 hr drive after a short hunt sun morning. Hotdogs an Mac salad.

No coyote sign, there was some during deer season. There was tracks and some howling. Maybe they moved down to the lake where there is less snow.

Coyotes, there's tons of coyotes. I went back up because I feel like its to hot in that basin. I feel as though even if there is less game the wolves are higher. Who knows I'm doing everything I can.
Almost forgot, I'm 71% sure I saw a cougar this morning.
