Blacktail shed hunting tips
« on: February 25, 2016, 03:03:14 PM »
Anyone have any tips they would care to share about blacktail shed hunting? I haven't had much luck, maybe I'm looking in the wrong habitat? :dunno: I have been walking alder bottoms and such.... any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Never really found too many in the alder bottoms.  Try the ridges and bedding areas.  Most of the ones I have found have either been in beds or on ridge trails.  Good luck.

A tip, don't start!  It will drive you mad!!  Actually it's great just getting out, tough to find the big ones, they bury them I believe!!  :chuckle:  just keep looking and cover as much ground as possible, I love the thick reprod or open areas where they might bed or feed.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

Follow the trails less traveled. If you see major deer highways you might find a small one here and there, but I am having better luck on the trails around the major ones.
