Got into my stand at 8:05 pm. Wind was hinky last night, around midnight the wind spun around 180 degrees. At 0200ish it started to pour for about a half an hour. At 0439 I finally heard a pig walking into the bait. Once he hit the bait my motioned activated green light slowly came on. I was using my CVA Elkhorn in .50 with 460 grain "No Excuse" bullets and 100 grains of black powder. I knew I hit him solid. I waited about a half an hour and then got down and walked over and found bright red lung blood.  I tried following the blood trail which was really good, but he changed direction several times and ran through some really nasty stuff.  Decided to hike back to the truck and wait till daylight.  When I got back to the bait site right at dawn I was standing at the bait and got charged by the big boar.  It was still dark and lucky for me he veered off in the thick brush about 20 yards away.  Nice little pucker factor!!  I lost the blood trail another time and had to go back and slow down and be more patient.  I lost the blood trail every time I got impatient and tried to anticipate his route.  So I slowed down and really concentrated on the next speck of blood.  There was a lot of blood but with him zig zagging and running through nasty  stuff I still managed to loose the trail.  So I get to the last drop of blood and I am trying to find the next drop and literally jumped since he was laying a foot from my toe.  Nice boar about 125 pounds, no cutters.  Lot of fun!!

Sweet! Been hoping you would smack some. Nice eater right there.

I have had more then one of those moments with hogs. A couple would have been worse if not for some quick gun work. They are dangerous. My buddy got tore up a couple years back on a wounded boar a client hit poorly.

Since he's a uncut boar, young one, but still uncut, he will be made into sausage.  If I had the space to do some smoking, I would have smoked the hams and bacon, but I don't.

Throw it in a suitcase and bring it with you.  I'll smoke it.
