Anyone  have info on good factory ammo? I see that Hornady has custom and match ammo . What's the difference between the 123 grain sst and A max? Any other recommendations? Thanks .also looking into scope options .looking at the night force shv and maybe a leupold vx3i or something. 4-14x50 ish range.

They say SST is built for hunting and the A-max is more target do to the fragmenting . I killed a 3x4 bench leg last year with a 123 a-max Grendel. Stumbled 5-10 yards dropped no exit little messy still dead.
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

If you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.

I use the A-Max for more precision, but the NATO stuff out there still shoots well. It's just dirty/oily. It's steel casings and 120 grains, usually sold under the Wolf label. Whereas A-max is over $1 a pull, the Wolf can be bought for about $0.36 in 500 rd cases. Good for lots of shooting and varmint hunting.

Steel cased ammo doesn't seem to work that great in AR 556. I wonder how it works in 6.5? I'd love to see the addition of the new silver bear zinc plated steel compared to the old laqure crap.

Serbia is officially adopting 6.5g

It wouldn't surprise me if other countries have used it.  :)

Was it the zinc coated steel?

It says "Combat Coated". Also, it's made in Russia and it's 100 grains, not 120. On-line research shows it's "laquer-coated steel".

I've shot laqure coated steel in a buddies AR and once I got her hot it was a jamomatic. I've heard the zinc works good.

Once I go through this 1K, I'll try the zinc!

Don't expect the wolf to shoot very well, least it didn't for me.  It is blasting ammo, just like cheap steel cased 556/223 ammo is.  I think it was about 2 MOA out of my gun, while the 123g Amax was Submoa.

With the AMax, I'm shooting about .5" at 100 yards. With the wolf, it's 1.5". Like I said, good for shooting varmints and blowing off ammo. Not for precision.
