I ran to up to the mud flat in my boat, I am going to need someone to show me the channel before I take my new boat across that. The water at little goose was considerably cleaner looking than the water below by lyons ferry (duh, Tucannon and Palouse Rivers) but hopefully she's getting cleaned out I want to catch some food!

Speed is the key on that channel.  Don't come off of plane until you hit the falls!!

I kid - I've had good luck far left against the rock cliff, or just left of the main Palouse channel.

It's pretty high right now so you should be good.

I turned around at 1.2' according to my main nav set. I can get my boat up to about 47 MPH with peeps and gear and beer and a full tank of fuel, I think I could rip through there but I didn't feel like that was the adult thing to do

I would think that some of the new fishfinders with Side Imaging would give a good profile of the "channel".  I'm headed there later this month but will have my smaller boat that doesn't have a unit in it.

There really is no channel in the mud flat.
All of it is going to read between .5' and 1.5'.
The key is to hammer down and just go.  I line up aiming at the left bank of the mouth of the river, then full throttle.  You'll be fine, just do not throttle down.  When you hear your engine bog just a little, don't panic, keep it throttled up and just power through it.

last time I was there we found "channels" or a depression in the mud lowered from moving water.  They weren't deep as it was only about 3'.

Must have been a big prop that ran the day before digging that channel for you.  :chuckle:

Right now, with snow melt run off, you might see 3' randomly somewhere. Either way, avoid the stump, and power up, I've never had an issue running multiple lines, getting over the flat and into or out of the river. Unless I stopped on purpose, and then it sucked for the next 30 minutes walking the boat or having to trim way up and move at 2 mph until deeper water.

I am sure I could make that happen, It would be easier had you chosen some weekend days to go with your vacation, but I could be there in the afternoon one day

Biggest Carp I’ve ever caught. Just up the snake from the Palouse. Use to fish cat there every Memorial Weekend.
