light/takedown/backpack shotgun
« on: March 08, 2016, 06:30:44 PM »
Had a request to post a picture of this project, so here it is.

Well the grouse were teasing the heck out of me this year in Idaho. So I decided I was going to pack a shotgun next year for a little pay back in between chasing deer or elk. Wanted to use one of my cheap guns incase it got stolen out of the truck while hunting and not packing it 24/7.

Started as a 94B 20g coming in at 5lbs 10 oz. Skeletonized the stock and knocked the barrel back to 20". Could have gone a little shorter but decided to just go 20". It now comes in at 4lbs 15oz. I can knock another 5 oz off if I take the buttpad off. I did not want to go sawed off and wanted the stock. Then just a little quick rattle can job and new front sight here she is.

Took it out and shot it at 15 yards with 3 buck and 7 1/2's. It shot very very well. heck 15 of the 20 3 buck pellets were on the 18x18" target. If I am going in a ways and camping out I will throw a 3 buck round in it for bear/cat/wolf. Even though I prefer my side arm. A dose of 3 buck at a moving target will do the trick :IBCOOL:

The longest part is the barrel at 20" and The stock/ frame with butt stock is 19" Takes down in 15 seconds and goes back together just as fast.

I have a rossi 45lc/410 very similar to this. It's way light and has proven effective on deer at 80ish yards and quail at reasonable ranges. Uses the choke like a contender or chokeless.

That is a sweet set up.  I have an old break action 20 I'd like to set up like that.  I'm looking for an adjustable stock for it so I can use it and so can my daughter.  I'm thinking I'd like to go 18.5" but would like to change chokes so she can use it for turkey and upland or clays.
You should have some great fun and camp grub with that setup!
https://www.howlforwildlife.org/take_action  It takes 10 seconds and it’s free. To easy to make an excuse not to make your voice heard!!!!!!
