I'm planning on hunting up near Colville this year. I also plan on heading out a week prior to opening day to scout. Any suggestions?

They gobble year round here in Stevens County. I still have about 150 hanging around the place. They usually start breaking up into smaller breeding groups by the first part of April depending on the weather. They even strut in the snow..

Heard a couple birds gobbling last week when I was over on my property in the Blues.  Birds still bunched up in large flocks.  Had about 150 right across from my entrance road.

For the past 3 weeks they have been gobbling, starting to get quite now, which tells me breeding is on. I've seen a group of 12 Toms all most everyday, starting last year when they were jakes w/small beards. I've watched them grow up into 2 year old long beards. Only 2 have broke off with hens and rest don't seem to be with any hens at all. They just mill around and feed in their 10 tom group.
