I like the stainless for this environment.  I have a T3 Light 25-06 which is a shooter.  I'm not as impressed with the plastic parts on it, but hey, it shoots well and is light and cheap.  If I was getting a wood stocked Bolt gun, it would not be a Tikka, but preferably a M70.  If you don't like the shine on the stainless just shoot some paint on it, or wrap it.

I have both, it dont matter get what ever you want. Stainless can be painted if it bugs you.
I have some old M70's from the 30's and 40's nice old guns, I wont shoot them. too valuable to me and they aint making any more, I have a 220 swift, 270, 2-30/06 and a 300H&H.
Newer M70's, just think buy one put about 1000-1500 into it and it might shoot like a tikka!!LOL :chuckle:

Unless I found a deal on a certain gun which held memories from my past, I will never buy another wood stocked, blued barrel gun again.  The stainless synthetics are the way to go, just less to worry about and go wrong when you've worked for that one particular shot.   That being said, I have always been dieing to own a Wetherby Mark V in 270 Weatherby mag, and would only buy it in a wood and blued model.  Once again, memories.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

I hate synthetic.  It's ugly.  It's loud.  If you hit something against it, it makes a loud hollow thump.

Personally I only own wood.  I think it looks a lot nicer and feels a lot nicer.  And all the scratches are memories.

You must not have felt the Tikka synthetics.  They have a nice feel and sound to them.  I have seen and touched some of the synthetics that have the plastic baseball bat feel and sound to them.  The tikkas don't.

+1 on the synthetic

Actually I have.  And it's a POS in my book.  If that upsets some of you i'm sorry.

Bigshooter why a pos?. I own T3 lite in 300win mag S/S this gun is a mule deer killing machine. 5 mule deer dead they didn't care if it was wood or synthetic. It shoots amazing groups best gun on the market in its price range.

They are just a cheap gun.  Wood or synthetic is just personal preference.  And I perfer wood 100 times out of 100.  Synthetic for me feels cheap and looks even cheaper.  And they look uglier than hell.  Hold a stainless M70 featherweight (wood), next to your tikka and tell me which one you like more.  For me there is no comparison.      :twocents:

Everyone has there spending limits.  I don't want to make anyone mad, I shouldn't have said they are a POS.  But i will most likely never own one.   :twocents:

RailRob,  when you finally buy this gun, you need to post some pics and a review of it.  Lot's of interesting discussion on this topic.  Gotta post the targets too!! :hunt2:

If I still had any I'd trade every Rem. or win I owned for tikkas (of course not counting my pre 64s) I mean guns I use.
and Yup I used to have  a modern featherweight Win. I sold a Rem 700 LVSF 22-250 to buy my 22-250 Tikka T3 lite.
Every one has different taste, thats a good thing.

If I thought an m70 was nicer than my tikka, I would have bought one. But I certainly wouldnt rank down someone elses choice of a gun just because I have nothing better to do. To each his own, thats whay makes the world go round. I have a beautiful wood stocked weatherby that I bought new over 20 years ago, and have tagged many animals with it. If you hunt the wetside and want a light foul weather gun go with thr cheap ugly synthetic stainless. I love mine and wouldnt trade it for any wood stocked gun.Markts :twocents:

Good for you.  I wouldn't have a synthetic stock even if you told me I could shove it up my x wife's ass.  Its my choice.  Don't you have anything better to do.    :hello:
