I've had this tag also so if anyone wants any info, PM me your # and I will give you a call. I will also meet up and hunt with someone if they want some company and or help packing out. I drew 49 Deg N so I will be heading over there Memorial day weekend and other weekend's the end of may/ beginning of June.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

I was able to get out behind a few gates yesterday for a few hours but it was miserable out and i stayed in the truck for the most part. Found some areas with old peels. Areas that look like they would be really good for deer season. Keep in mind I'm new to bear so I don't really know what kind of area I should be looking for. I found some areas where i would try to call coyotes so i assume this area could work for calling bear too.

I'd be happy to help you.  I've had this tag twice.  Save you vacation and efforts for later in the season, but early season is fun for exploring and looking for sign.

Cruised a bit in the Monroe unit. No bears on cams, minimal to no activity on the bait barrels, no fresh peels spotted. Lots of nice fresh grass..only a matter of time fellas.

I might get out soon for a look, but right now I'm addicted to Koke on Lake Stevens.

Let us be the judge of that! Pics! And congrats, not a super easy tag to fill, especially this early in the hunt.

Honestly, I'm kind of embarrassed to post pics. With 4 inches of fur on the back, and 4 inches of fur on the belly, and 4 more inches of fur on the sides, bear size it very deceiving. Initially I didn't take the shot. Then she went off into the woods a little bit. Then I talked myself into feeling alright taking a smaller bear considering all the other things I have going on during this hunt, and the "oh, what if i don't find another one" was playing in my head. When she came back I procrastinated a few more minutes before taking her and when I walked up to her I was quite disappointed. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I can't help but think I really should have stuck to my first gut reaction which was to let this one go. No doubt she'll be fine eating and her fur will look good on my wall, or whatever I do with it.
