New Bow?
« on: March 11, 2016, 06:55:09 PM »
Hey I'm looking into getting a new bow for hunting elk.  My price range is about $1000 and just wanting some tips and advice on which bow you would recommend.  Thanks for the help

Hope you're ready to get confused;  a whole lotta info is coming your way.  :chuckle:  I shoot a G5 Primal.  I think they are discontinued, but you can still by them new on ebay for around $400; retail on them were $729.  Then with your budget load it up with some good accessories.

I just went through this myself with a similar budget. I ended up going with the PSE bow madness 34. But there's a lot of good bows out there. I loved the perfexion but I couldn't get my hands on one to shoot or that's the route I may have went.

I just picked up my new bow this week. I just went to my local archery dealer that carried the major manufacturers and shot a lot of bows over a couple of days. I narrowed it down to 4 and shot those again and ended up deciding on a 2 year old leftover Hoyt Faktor 30. It wasn't the most expensive bow I shot or the lightest or the fastest but it rose to the top of the list early on. Some bows will just feel better

I am running the new defiant 34. They run right at 1,000.00 and it is a great bow. My 2nd choice for this years models is the pse air.

I would shoot all of the Hoyts and get the one that feels good.

what is your draw length? if its less than 30 I would shoot the bowtech prodigy on comfort setting. 30 or more I would consider a Halon 7 or bowtech boss.

I feel in love with prime impact this year, and I got a obsession evolution after which I actual shoot better at hunting range. I've shot a lot of bows this year and the obsession/xpedition grip the most the noise level in them was very low as well. My wife now has a new martin and that thing is dead quite and the cam on the bow seems to be very smooth and ill say pretty fast.

Look up Rad's thread "Annual which bow manufacturer is the best?". It pretty well covers the nicer bows out there.

I'd seriously look at Elites based on their warranty and service alone. They aren't the most technologically advanced or the fastest things out there but they'll ship you, next day, a loaner bow to use if yours goes down during a hunt. They're quiet, smooth, and carry a lifetime warranty regardless of when or where it was purchased or by whom. That's hard to beat.

Idk if you buy a Hoyt you won't have to worry about your bow going down during a hunt!  :chuckle: Joking aside I heard the Elites are really smooth shooters and quality, but I love my Hoyt.
