Has anyone evershot birds with their bow? I have shot a few quail with my bow but thats all i have shot so far.

I've shot grouse with my bow. It's a helluva lot of fun. Frankly, I prefer bowhunting for grouse more than I do using a shotgun. But grouse are about the only birds I've bowhunted.

Grouse with a Judo point is pretty darn fun! My buddy is taking his bow to some pheasant ranch hunt near Spokane pretty soon, so I'm hoping for a good laugh there!

I have taken grouse and 1 turkey , I missed a chuckar at 30 yards this year , I was thinking he would be a state record

I havent tried grouse before... Maybe i should. I am going to attempt turkey this year with my bow so we will see how that turns out.

I usually use arrows that I find for grouse. I figure I'll shoot someone else's loss

Once I went to grouse with the judo, there was no going back. Shot a couple last year with a shotgun because I didn't have my bow, and it sure wasn't nearly as fun. We shot probably 15 when I was in BC last year for an archery moose hunt. Mostly spruce grouse, cuz they're dumb enough to stand there too long. Ruffies are smarter and will flush. Did sacrifice a broadhead to a big blue though...only blue we saw on the moose trip and I was in the woods without a judo. Stuck the arrow in the tree and the grouse slid off onto the ground. Best $20 I ever spent! A buddy shot his first game animal (grouse) with his bow this year at 50 yards...incredible shot. That'll give a guy some confidence for the real thing! Haven't tried other birds, but turkeys are next.

I carried a judo in AZ on my coues hunt a couple weeks ago for bunnies...only shot I had went low and I took his leg clean off...hopefully that will become my new lucky rabbit's foot, although it sure didn't come from a lucky start.

Grouse, Crow, Pheasants, Ptarmigan, Francolin (S. Africa)...and still am trying to tag a %$#&@* TURKEY!!

I'm certain if a turkey comes in close enough I can take one. The problem is - the only time I see turkeys is when they are out of season.

When I was a kid I shot a ton of grouse, turkeys, pheasant, quail, doves etc with my old recurve. Now I stick to grouse with my compound. It is lots of fun hitting a bird in flight with flu, flus.

That is pretty darn cool! I saw a tv show with Tred barta and he shot a goose also with his long bow. After about 300 shot he finally connected.
I have only shot grouse with my bow,still fun but a goose has to be a lot harder of a shot! I can't imagine the look on the other hunters faces when you
showed up with a bow.

One of my favorite memories was when my Dad and I were hunting pheasants and rabbits when I was in high school. I had my recurve bow for bunnies and he had a shot gun for shooting birds. We were walking through some corn stubble when he flushed a rooster. It flew right at me so he couldn't shoot at it. I saw it coming and nailed him (the bird, not my Dad) with a field tip, in the air at 30 yards. My Dad just stood there speechless. When we got home he had to call all of his buddies to tell them about it. He brought it back up to my friends this weekend at our Superbowl Party.

My first bow kill was a grouse with a blunt. impaled him and stopped turned him into "Grouse on a stick"

Two years ago I 8 ringed a turkey(Jake) but I just missed the vitals and never found him. Also that year I tried judos on grouse and ripped every feather off the back of one that flew off. Then another at 28 yards hit him square in the breast, the arrow bounced off him skipped on the gravel road and launched itself down a canyon the grouse came to about the time I got to it and it flew off

I'm out $12 bucks on that trip and came home hungry

Tom Tamer, I've had blues fly off after being hit with a Judo. This year I switched to the new Muzzy SG-X small game head. I can't say that I've yet shot a blue grouse with one, but with the Trocar Tip on that head I have every confidence that it will get the job done.

It kills me in the early season I have the choice do I bird hunt that day for deer hunt. I always go for deer but still ususally end up shooting a limit of grouse with my bow and loosing an arrow or two. Yes expensive but I cant control my self, they sit there just staring at me asking to be shot, you feel obligated to try.

Nice I may give those a shot. are those the judo style with the Muzzy chisel point on them? I was wonder if thos chisel point type may allow for more penatration, either that or I'll just use some Turkey spurs behind a field point ?
