WA State Private Party Firearms Transfers- $25
« on: March 17, 2016, 12:59:12 PM »
Fellow hunters and shooters,

If you have been eyeing a different rifle, pistol, or shotgun listed in the classifieds but are leery of paying $50 or more to get it transferred- I have your problem solved. Not only will you find value pricing, you will enjoy the friendly and knowledgeable atmosphere of what may become your favorite gun shop.

And if you are in the mood for something brand new, contact me. I can almost always get your dream gun shipped with 2-3 days.

Call, email, or PM after you get the buyer/ seller to agree to a date and time. We will arrange an appointment to get that new toy placed into your hands legally
and with minimal hassle.

I am located between WA-167 and Auburn, near the Auburn Supermall, giving you easy access from WA-18 or WA-167.

Mark Schofield

Price increase to $25 due to enhanced NICS and WA state requirements. I welcome all hunters and outdoors folks with a desire to comply with the law.

I'd like to thank Mark for the quick and easy transaction yesterday, not to mention relatively cheap for the buyer of my shotgun. ($25 fee)

It worked out well for us since the buyer came from north of Seattle, and with me being in south Thurston county, Mark's location was right in the middle.

Mark also does some gunsmithing work, and since I've been needing a new trigger in a Husqvarna 30/06, I left that with him and he'll be ordering and installing a Timney trigger for me.

Good to see.  Is that $25 per 4473 or per firearm?

Thank you for the nice words, Bob. I enjoyed fixing up your Husky 30-06 and our Mauser gun show.

That Timney trigger is going to be nice! The original trigger felt like it was about 12 pounds. I was amazed I was able to shoot quarter sized groups at 100 yards with that terrible trigger and some old factory ammo. Can't wait to see what it will do with a 3 pound trigger and handloads. Sure is a good shooting rifle for being 65 years old.

The $25 is per firearm. If you could witness the amount of paperwork involved (particularly on handguns), you would wonder why I don't charge $50. I am not out to punish folks who are abiding by the law, so I figure if I can make transfers affordable, I want to do so.

Besides, I get to meet cool folks and share a few hunting lies!

Good deal.  Just wondering for future reference.  Do you do online orders as well?  For instance, can I order FFL items using your services?  Your website seems to hint at it, but I wanted to clarify.

You are in my neck of the woods, and I have never mail ordered FFL items, before.  I thought I'd start looking into it, since it seems that the market is about right.

I am not sure what you mean, but I am happy to order for you. Clearly, I need to make a small profit on items I order for others, just like any business.

To clarify, I do not lend out my FFL certificate and account information. I paid dearly to get and maintain my FFL.

You can apply and get your own FFL 01 certificate, which will enable you to shop those items on your own if you are seeking wholesale pricing.

For example, could I go to some online dealer like Gallery of Guns or Buds Gun Shop and order a gun, having it sent to you?

Apologies if the inquiry is out of line.  Like I said, I have never ordered like that before.

Flound3rz...not at all. No apologies needed.

Of course, you can have guns shipped to me after having completed the sale through Bud's Gun Shop, as an example.  This is known as an interstate transfer, and my prices for that service is $30 for long guns, $35 for handguns.

The seller needs a licensed dealer to send the firearm to, therefore they would ask for a copy of my FFL, either by direct inquiry, or asking you to coordinate it. I would then transmit my FFL number to the seller, they ship the firearm, and when it arrives I call you.

A private party transfer is what Bobcat referred to above, and that involves two WA state residents getting together to legally transfer a firearm.

Hope this helps ! Feel free to call me, I am happy to explain the processes in detail.

Mark

No, I think that helps, and applies to my first inquiry, which I probably did not phase the right way.  Appreciate your time.  Thanks.
