SpokaneSlayer, your striker issue....

I carry a 3" square of that Teflon pot scrubber material...( know what I mean?) for cleaning up my slate calls and my strikers. I think it scours off any oils which cause the striker to slide instead of skip.... ? 

Anyway, I have this "scrubby" material and I tied it to my leash on my striker so I dont lose either.... really works great if the slate or striker seem to change their sound...  just a thought...I am no turkey expert....

Thanks for the tip.  I use something similar.  this particular striker, I dropped right after pulling the trigger on my tom last Spring.  Well, I found it in September while deer hunting.  It had been exposed to the elements for 4 months.  I tried reconditioning it.  Just doesn't work as well anymore.

I'll bet $100 would barely get the licenses. If we hit Montana again it will easily be $700. Between tags fuel and a place to stay it is certainly not cheap. I do not think anyone can honestly say they hunt because it is cheaper then other food sources, unless they are hunting in the yard w/o the proper licenses. I know for what we pay for the papers from the WDFW one could buy a lot of turkey. That said I guess it really does not matter, I just want to make sure I can show my kids what to do when they try to get theirs :).

Nice....I got our gobble shots taken care of....At turkey camp if you get a gobbler you have to drink a shot of Rare Breed Wild Turkey and Gobble around the campfire...!!!  I can't wait... :chuckle:
