Turkey Season
«
on:
January 29, 2009, 09:58:27 AM »
So, is everyone getting fired up for spring and to hear some crows cawing and owls hooting and gobblers booming! I know I am, can't wait. You guys and gals taking any first timers out this year? I try and take at least one new person a year out but I don't have any one lined up yet this year. It'll also be my first year I don't have a youth to take out in the early season, my youngest is 16.

Hell yeah I'm getting fired up. Been breaking out the mouth calls for a little pre-season practice. Planning on trying it with a bow this year. I'm taking my wife out to get her first WA bird. She didn't get to hunt much last year because of work. My Dad wants to go out with me. He doesn't hunt, just wants to tag along. Hoytstaffshooter may come out. One of the guy's in my squadron wants to go if he can get his hunter's ed in time. Roll on April 15th.

My 15 yr old turns 16 on apr 14. We will be able to hunt the youth season one more time. Will I have to buy him 2 tags, one for youth and one for adult?

Nope you only have to buy one tag and yes he can hunt the early season. That was great planning on you and your wifes part 16 years ago.

I got a buddy at work whose into tactical shooting but this year he's going to give turkeys a try so I got one new guy and one other buddy that hasn't bagged a Tom yet. Plus I've got to take the wife since I got her her first last year I thnk She's hooked.
I'm stoked, got some new calls and a choke today from Cablea's and tongiht around here it had a nice smell in the air, kind of like a spring night....scary I hope we have a decent weathered spring but I hope it doesn't heat up too early and throw them into rut way early. Is there still a ton of snow on the East side?

There is still some snow over there on the NE side. And the temps have been cold... Hope it doesnt dump a new storm weeks before the opener.
