I am going to head up around Colville and Chewelah probably going to skip the opener though. The last two times I have hunted the opener the weather was terrible and there was still a bunch of snow on the ground.

Last year they seemed to have some vacancies at Benny's on opening weekend. Might of had to do with gas prices being so high though.

Mention the NWTF when you call Benny's in Colville. Andy Hydorn runs it and he is also the Pres of the Upper Columbia Gobblers Chapter, He will give you a good deal  on a room and if you are having a hard time finding Bird's he might even sneak you onto his ranch

I'll be hunting around Spokane.  Have a spot just south on town and might have some private land toward Cheney.  There's another spot west of Spokane that I'm going to scout.

Will hunt opening week near Colville and also south of Chewelah.  Also have a trip planned to hunt several days (guided) near the Smoky Mountains National Park in Eastern Tennessee (first time to this area).

Last year harvested a nice three year old hybrid (Eastern/Rio) hunting private land semi-guided in Northeastern Kansas.  Great turkey hunting property and general area. In Kansas last year it was like yelp yelp gobble.....yelp yelp yelp gobble to a box call, then silence (no more answers to more yelps, cutts etc., so I quit calling) ............. after 10 minutes the ole lone tom suddenly came in quiet and then shied away from the hen decoy to make it a long shot!  I was hunting the 4th week of the Kansas season.  Call shy and decoy shy birds but the toms were not henned up.

The countdown is now down to 10 weeks.
I am looking for Rios to begin the season. Then see what I can do about some Merriams.
Last year the snow was still deep around Spokane in April and so no Merriams.
This one rancher south of Colville had turkeys everywhere a few years back, but after inviting everybody he could find for several years now, the turkeys got the hint and now leave him alone.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

I am going to wonder out in the woods somewhere and try my luck for the first time on an official turkey hunt.  I don't have a clue where.  I might try around Teanaway, just because its close to home.

Who knows.  Probably head towards liberty area since my closer to home haunts have all the roads washed out making access very rough.  Might just man up if no one is there and have it all to myself. :hello:

Both.  Hard to get away from people in those areas but being young I'm more willing to walk/jog into no where to find some.

Got on 5 toms last year and had a shot at 1 that I goofed.  He was on a hill and right as I shot he stepped to my left and down the hill and I shot up and to the right of him...
