This post is a little delayed, but both the American Field and the AKC Nationals were held at Ames plantation in TN this year. The AF Nationals have been held at Ames for ages, and this is the second year the AKC Nationals have been held there. The AF Nationals crown one single winner, while the AKC Nationals place 4 dogs. At the AF Nationals the Pointers have once again regained their hold on the title, with this years winner being 3 year old Pointer Whippoorwill Justified being crowned the winner. He was handled by Larry Huffman of MS.
At the AKC Gun dog Championship 79 all breed dogs came to the line at Ames, with one of the judges being Mr Jim House of Oregon. The 2016 AKC Gun Champion was Piney Run Lilly (Brittany) handled by Ben Lorenson of Stonebridge Kennels in SC. RU was Westweim Get Your Guns Ms Oakley (Weimaraner), 3rd was Snowy Rivers Full Strut (GSP) and 4th was Erbenhof SND Boogie Woogie Bo (Weimaraner).
Winning either Chamoionship is a huge accomplishment, especially when you consider the difficulty of running at Ames.
