Re-mounting horns/sheds (BlackRiver Taxidermy)
« on: March 31, 2016, 07:46:33 PM »
Here's a few pics of a type of completed 'remount'. Customer had a buck that he cut the skull plate off for a buckhorn plaque years ago and came to me last month wanting to have this buck mounted to a re-production skull to make it a european. There are some AWESOME reproduction skulls on the market that are very hard to tell from the real thing at a glance. One of those skulls coupled with some finish work and its hard to tell it from the real deal. Thought I'd share as its some options out there for those wanting to change the look of a mount OR for you shed-horn hunters that find a memorable matched-set that would like to display them as a euro.

how much do you charge to mount sheds for an elk ?

It can totally vary, dependent upon the condition of the sheds/antlers to be mounted, type/brand of reproduction skull you want and if its going to be plaqued/etc...its really a case by case basis. It can be as low as $200 (for elk) and go up from there.

Looks great. I use Mountain Mike reproduction heads when I find nice matched sets.
