Savage 12 accu trigger bad
« on: April 01, 2016, 10:46:16 PM »
Hello

I picked up new a Savage 12 in 223 Rem. I have had nothing but trouble ever since. I close the bolt and the firing pin goes off. So I tightened the trigger pull to max. Now it works but only at max pounds. Now if you pull the trigger with safety on it clicks. Now if you release the safety after that the firing pin releases. I haven't checked to see if it goes off with a round. I just stopped using it. It has been sitting in the safe since 2009. Was hopping to get a none accu trigger for it. Is there any good triggers out there? Now does the 110 fit the model 12?
Thanks in advance

But a Timney. Or call savage and see what they say.

It is really hard to believe someone would buy a NEW rifle, screw around with the trigger and not get it to work and then wait 7 YEARS , I wouldn't wait seven days.  I have a half dozen accutriggers around the house on hunting guns and they all work just fine.  I have put custom triggers on a couple of Stevens 200 that I target shoot with.  I like the SSS Competition trigger it will go on the accutrigger and the older non-accutrigger models...

Ahh Cr-p, you got me this is the 1st of April.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Called and Emailed them after I first noticed tge problem. Never herd back at all. So I putt it away and for got about her. Just in the last few months I called Savage and was able to talk to a guy. They said to send it in, but I can't find my receipt. They want the proof of purchase so I am screwed. Plus I don't like the accrutriggers. I just rather get a new trigger for her.

Jewell is hard to beat across the board especially at the lowest pull weights. I prefer a 8oz pull on a Jewell for my long range stuff. Once you have enough trigger time 8oz is a pleasure. I would not recommend it for a hunting set up. Even 2 1/2lbs pounds is a little touchy for hunting if your wearing gloves.

maybe check out the timney calvin elite, put it on one of my long range setups and really like it, it's nothing like the regular 512

No not saying there bad because I don't know. Just having a hard time finding one that drops in and works with the model 12. Everone I see says 110 or 112. Do these fit the 12?  Timney trigger will work not trying to go broke. Thanks

Check into the Sharp Shooter Supply trigger.  Same price as the Timney, designed by some Savage guru's for Savage rifles.

I have some extra triggers and their brackets, I think.  Bring it with you for turkey season and we'll dig through my pile of extra Savage parts.

I would stay away from SSS.  Check the Savage sites and FB for some of their reviews....  I had to call SSS and threaten them with wire fraud charges in order to make any headway with a barrel I'd ordered.  "It's in the mail, it's in the mail". "Where is the tracking number?"  Two weeks later, "It's in the mail, it's in tThe mail!"  "Where is the tracking number?"  For three months; after the initial 6 month lead-time.  SSS-no thanks

A model 112 is the long action, the model 12 is the short action, trigger will work in both
