First Turkey
« on: April 03, 2016, 11:51:54 AM »
I called in this tom for my son Garric yesterday morning 15 minutes into opening day. This was his first after two unsuccessful seasons. We put a group to bed the night before and were in position well before daylight the next morning. This was a feat itself as we were 4 miles in behind a locked gate on public land. After the birds strutted in spitting and drumming and Garric starting to hyperventilate I gave him the go ahead for the 15 yrd shot. A very special day and a well deserved bird!

Way to go Dad! Congrats on your first bird Garric! I'm sure this bird is sooooo sweet after 2 learning seasons!

Sweet! Did he pack it out all four miles like that   :chuckle:. Be a good idea to get a little orange on that bird if you are packing it any real distance on public land.....even on youth weekend. Awesome time for you and him for sure .
