Rat Fur; Market, Vest, Etc?
« on: April 06, 2016, 09:26:01 PM »
Trappers,
My wife has been asking me for years to trap enough Norway Rats out of our crawlspace & attic to make a vest. Last year i spent literally all of 2015 gathering little pelts. She's never really known the difference between mink, rat, and other furs. Great to me...anyway, Got them back from the tannery and finally got around to doing it during this really wet westside winter.
Here she is wearing it...

And here's one of the little buggers that was used for it.

What do you veteran trappers think this Rat fur vest I made is worth in an auction? Also is there any market for Rat fur?
Thanks!

Great vest. My girl just loves the muzzlellading season so bad and likes to dress the part. We had such a good Norway rat season the last 10 years.  I wanted to do something special for her and the dog. Made a coat for both of them. Took me 500 white uran stained rats for her coat and 30 normal Norways for the dogs coat. She's a keeper for sure. I MEAN THE DOG HER IS THE BEST RAT DOG EVER...... WIFE NOT SO MUCH

I like it and would bid on one in the auction! Do you have enough pelts for another one? Better get busy.
