I shipped my civet glands off Monday and they got flagged in shipment as possible drugs. I think maybe their dog liked the smell of them. After a couple of days though they ended up shipping them on and everything turned out OK.
Reason for the post the buyer told me the best way to ship them is to save an old paint can, jar the glands up and ship in the sealed up paint can with the space filled with kitty litter. Should fit in a large Priority mail box.
Just thought it was a tip worth repeating if you are ever shipping skunk essence or their glands.

Bruce,

You mind sharing how you did on those? I got $20 an once for all my stripped skunk essence.

Thanks

Doug

$200 for 46 pairs of glands. If I had extracted the essence I think I could do better. Civet cat essence should bring around $75 per ounce.

$75 an ounce! If I could get that on striped skunks I might actually make a little money. I extracted all of mine and sold it to lure maker in Missouri.

Hopefully I didn't get short changed at $20 an ounce. Some of the research I did suggested that it was a fair price???

I think civet is more expensive then striped because they are only in a small geographical area

From what I have read $20/ounce is a fair price for striped skunk. I understand you can get close to an ounce out of some striped skunks but spotted skunks it takes like 10 for an ounce plus there is a lot fewer of them trapped. Really spotted skunks are only taken in any amount in W WA and W OR. Even then most don't like to fool with them.
I sold two more civets today. Only 8 left and I am out for the year.
