Grouse and Logging Roads
« on: May 18, 2016, 12:59:02 PM »
I apologize in advance, if this a really dumb question. It has been a number of years since I have done any hunting, and was wondering if the rule against shooting from a road applies to logging roads and skid roads as well.

I ask, because I remember my dad, a Logger, used to keep a shotgun in the pickup, and would hunt Grouse before and after work as the opportunity arose...and I just want to make sure I'm giving my boys good advice.

There actually is not a law that says you can't shoot from a road. What it says is you can't shoot negligently from a road. However they don't define negligent so nobody knows what it means.

If you're talking logging roads on private land, the law would not apply. State land you'd just need to shoot in a way that's not negligent.

If you're on national forest land then they have their own law that makes it illegal to shoot from a road.
