Meopta vs. Zeiss
« on: April 04, 2016, 11:08:38 AM »
I am in the market for a new scope to put on a new CZ rifle I just picked up. I was going to go with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 plus $18 for shipping from euro-Optics for $329.99! But then I found that CameraLand NY had the Meopta Meopro 3.5-10x44 for $349.99 with free shipping, so basically the same price. I have read a little on each and both come highly recommended. I own VX3's and a Zeiss HD, so I was leaning toward the Conquest but this Meopta scope just keeps nagging me! Any opinions on either one?

I have both of these scopes. These, as well as the Cabelas Euro/Instinct line, are all the same. Meopta makes them. They are re-branded as the conquest, or euro. That said- the 3x9x40 to me, is the better scope. The eye relief nicer. I don't notice much light gain in the extra 4mm, at least to offset the somewhat quirky eye relief. But, I do love the fov and the clarity of these scopes. IMO they are the best value out there in scopes. Either way you go you will be happy.

I cannot comment on Meopta, but I picked up my first Zeiss last year and its great. Money well spent.

I'm a huge fan of Zeiss, I have owned Swarovski, Leica, Cabelas Euro, Leupold, Burris, Vortex and Redfield scopes and I would take Zeiss any day of the week.  They make great scopes that are super clear, reliable and well priced.  Only thing I would add is that Leupolds and some Redfields are made in USA and they also make a great product.  GO USA

I know for a fact that this is not true. Meopta does not make anything for Zeiss. Zeiss still  manufacturers all of our field optics.
