Quality Muzzy or Quality Archery
« on: April 15, 2016, 08:53:01 AM »
I am in a situation.. I always archery hunt and put in for quality archery. My son is getting married on September 9th!!! So i am thinking on switching to muzzy. I have 10 Quality elk points so i am in the area to get drawn. I HOPE The elk where going off in my area last year, will the bulls still be going off in muzzy season this year?

You do know archery season is open until the 22nd right?

But if you do want to hunt the muzzleloader season, this would be the best year to do it, because it opens on October 1st, and that's the earliest it will ever be.

Last year it opened on the 3rd. Next year will be the 7th.

I only hunt muzzy for elk. It can be hit or miss on the rut. I've experienced heated rut activity and I've spent the entire season without hearing any elk at all, bugles or otherwise. Last year the rut was still going but I wouldn't call it hot and heavy by any means. Archery doesn't start until the 12th of Sept. this year so you could still hit it with better odds to draw your tag.  :twocents:

Archery season is September 10-22.

My mistake, I thought it was the 12-24.

Archery season is September 10-22.

My mistake, I thought it was the 12-24.
It moves a day each year, or two this year because of leap year.  Next year is 9-21.  And like bobcat said, general season for muzzy is opening Oct 1, so even if you don't draw a quality special permit you basically get quality type hunt dates.

My brother got married on opening day of rifle deer season last year. I could not believe it. He was hearing about it at the wedding!

What is it about people getting married in Sept?? My brother is getting married this sept as well... I was like, dude! What are you doing? Not only are you ruining elk season this year, but also for years to come! Having your anniversary middle of archery elk season is not a good choice!! What the hell man?!?! I'm getting married next year and picked late April... Seemed pretty safe! I'm not a big turkey hunter so I don't feel like I'm really missing much there..

don't really see the issue, the season goes until the 22nd. so you might miss the opener. good year or bad year as far as rut goes would be the last week of that archery season anyway.

it'S ONLY 1 DAY THAT YOU WOULD MISS, AND IT ISN'T EVEN OPEN. YOU WOULD BE TRAVELING THERE OR PACKING IN THAT DAY ANYWAY. I WOULD LEAVE ON THE 14TH AND HUNT TO THE END. CLOSER YOU GET TO THE EQUINOX THE BETTER! GOOD LUCK
