Packaging for powdered drinks.

I just scored  on some awesome powdered  energy drinks in bulk form. Looking to use something besides zip lock bags and break it down to serving sizes.. I have been looking  online for stuff. But nothing has really been apealing.
What do you use to pack your powdered drinks?

How about just a small, wide-mouthed Nalgene bottle, like 250ml and just scoop out what you need, no waste, no fancy packaging.

You can order mini zippys in any size you want pretty much. i get a sales magazine I think called just "Plastics" that has about anything plastic you could ever want. There is also mini heat seal bags that could be used like a vacuum seal bag but probably cheaper and made in smaller sizes.

i agree with the above option of the little nalgene bottles you can get at REI for like 1.70 like one of these

and then just bring the scoop if you are really concerned with exact serving sizes..better yet, buy the above bottle, scoop one scoop in at home, mark a line with a marker, and repeat until full.  then you can just poor it out until you reach the next line down.
these bottles are bomb proof and will eliminate plastic waste and can be used over and over and also used for many more things.
I use a smaller version for olive oil in the back country.
they sell them in 1 oz, 2 oz, 4 oz, 8 oz versions.  definitely a very solid multi use (cheap) piece of gear too.

Warehouse in Auburn.  Good pricing/next day delivery.  I suggest 4mil bags.  Thicker bags sound good, but they have a much higher failure rate than the 4mil does.  6 and 8mil seams just don't hold up for some reason.  4 mil is also great for pre-tied salmon/steelhead leaders.

They do carry Boston bottles as well, though that's much larger than you need.  Nice thing about Boston bottles is you can go in with a bunch of friends and get a short case.  Fill with cornstarch, talc powder, carpenters chalk or finger print powder to be used as wind detectors.  Just don't get your wind detector mistaken for your Power Aide drink mix.   Boston bottles are what I use to fill my Pixi Straws.


Ikea sells the extra wide Smoothy Straws for about $0.08 each. Those are hard to beat for powdered drink containers.  And two dozen in a pack takes up much less room than a couple 4oz bottles.  They are easy to fill and all you need is a torch and a pair of pliers to seal them.  Get two colors and add instant coffee or espresso for on-the-go caffeine pick me up in the field.  I like to mix instant espresso and Swiss Miss cocoa for what we call Mountain Mochas.  Fire up the Jet Boil after a hard morning hunt and have a little sweet java injection!

I have bought large drinking straws and bent the ends over and taped them and filled them with drink mix and it worked decent. Now I just use small zip loc bags from a craft store and put one serving in each bag.

All you gotta do is is mix the LEOS a drink and they'll leave you alone.

Vacuum sealing.  McDonald's straws or the even larger ones available at Cash and Carry or similar.  Smaller nalgene bottles are nice and don't involve trash/waste to pack around.
