Gunsmith Help

Being lefthanded leaves me smaller list of options from the gunmakers these days. so, i am thinking rather than order what i would like from the remington or whomever custome shop, why not just work with a gunsmith and build exactly what I want. Problem is, I don't know of any in my area, I life in Issaquah area. I use to go to Dave down at harbor guns (grew up that way) but I hear he is not doing too much anymore and would like to have it close to home also.

sure would appreciate any help i can get in names of smiths to get started by those who have gone down this route or have knowledge of a good reputable builder locally.

Your of the right mind set, with the prices the Remington Custom shop is pushing now days and being left handed you would be better off to build a custom and way ahead if you already have a rifle with a left handed action to build off of. Don't be afraid to send your work out of state there are many quality gunsmiths out there. If you send them a action for a build, once it's finished it's sent right back to your door step. There is a huge selection of barrels out there but most are a 3 month plus wait with the exception of a few. Brux Barrels is doing a heck of a cut rifle SS barrel, 3 weeks delivery time and 280.00 bucks to your door. The gunsmith I use for my rifles is http://bryantcustom.com/, he is a top notch smith. The rifle 3rd down on the right under "Photo Galleries" is one I had him build me. He is currently awaiting payment a on long range 7mm WSM I just had built.

IMHO we have one of the best riflesmiths in the nation right here in Covington, his name is Mike Palazzo, I was blown away when I walked inside his shop.

Are you looking for a gunsmith or a left handed action.  A good gunsmith can easily do what any of the factory custom shops can do at less cost.

I don't think Cowen is doing too much smithing these days. Last I spoke to him he was cutting way back. Mike Palazzo on the other hand would definently get more of my buisness.

 Mike is a great guy and really knows his stuff, got to love that accent too. Mike is a true master of gunsmithing, give him a call and go check out his stuff, he does it all at home and has a cluttered but well equiped shop. He is just off of Hwy 18 at SE Kent Kangley. Go west from Hwy 18 one block to 164th Ave SE, then turn north. He is on the west (left) side about a block. Look for the small sign in the yard "Villa Vera" and you ae there.

currently looking for a gunsmith, one that builds, and then i will be looking for an action. I have one rem 700 in 270 that I may consider using to build off for my second rifle since i really don't shoot this much anymore, but I was leaning towards a controlled round feed such as winchester or ruger for my primary and first project which will be either 300wm or 338wm but am leaning towards 300.
