Oregon spring bear?
« on: January 21, 2016, 08:09:07 AM »
Anyone know when the applications for spring bear in Oregon will be available? Cant seem to find any dates anywhere except they are due the 10th of February. And they are not available for purchase yet. Seems like they should be out any day now  :dunno:

Figured it out. They were up just had to buy a hunting license first before it would show me the controlled hunts. It's hard keeping up with all the different ways states do things.

Now that you have it figured out, which unit you leaning toward?
West blue mountains 649A is the best!

That's been my first choice the last few years and is this year as well. Have 4 points so may get lucky? I just don't remember having to buy my license first last year in order to see the controlled hunt options available to apply for.

I think you're looking close to 50% for non-res at 4 points. You'd most likely draw it next year for sure.

My wife and I both have 4 points this year, looking at 60%. I'm thinking about putting only one of us in for W. Blues until we both draw. Would like to only have to concentrate on one tag per year. Luckily it's my back yard so we get to spend a little more time than most hunts.

I have 5 and was planning on putting in but some stuff came up and I will just be buying a point.  That just increased all of your odds a little as I would have gotten one for sure.  Probably still do a hunt in Idaho though!

Results were posted last night. Nothing here which means probably 100% next year.

Where did you guys apply? Almost all the units have leftover tags every year.

I'm going to hunt the North Cascades. Just a 5% success rate, but it will get me up into the mountains when I might have stayed home. And it's a short enough drive to go every weekend or after work.

Eastside - West Blues. I decided I'd like for my wife and I to hunt this once since we live in the unit, and then we'll be drawing some of the easier units after that. Only one unit over here has leftover tags, and I'm sure everyone and their dog that wants to hunt over here puts it at their 2nd choice.

you live in a beautiful area, I'm jealous.  When I draw my wenaha (wa) tag, we stay in Troy.  Love that area, can't imagine being there full time!

Beautiful, no doubt. Baker, Union, and Wallowa counties have much to offer. But I miss NE WA/N ID - I'm a bass guy. I can travel to hunt, traveling to fish gets a little expensive.

That sucks that you didn't draw. Hopefully your luck will change for the rest of your draws.
I was lucky and drew the Trask/Wilson spring bear tag over here in Tillamook, hopefully I will be able to connect.
