Gorgeous firearm. Do gun makers have to pay Colt royalties to make 1911s? I see so many of them out there under different manufacturers. You don't see that with other firearms except maybe military issue. Or do you?

The pattent is up. Not sure if its becuse the design is old or because it was a military firearm.

time.  kind of why the AR really took off a few years back.  Once the protection was up, a bunch of folks got in on manufacturing them.
