I posted this merely as a heads up for everyone.  Wasn't really wanting to discuss the hunt itself, but ya, there is a bin full of bad apples out there that flat out rape and pillage the deer.  Only thing that saves enough to reproduce is zone closures due to training.
Are you referring to employees?
No, tribal members

Same requirements on JBLM, gotta take my passport when I take Dad to Madigan. It's odd that an enhanced DL is OK when the FED's only gave WA a few extra months to comply with the National law. You wont be able to fly with them in few months.  :twocents:

Kind of a pain to get too.  At least around here.  Closest place to get one is the trip cities

I do miss working out there it was 6 good years. I think the stricter ID requirements are a good thing. I felt the base was to open (not including all the holes in the fence line with tire tracks through them) for the average person to just come on base for most any kind of recreation.

I personally would not waist my points on YTC. You can bed a nice deer or elk only to have the TA closed the next day. Its bad for archery in September when the Japanese are their training. Most all of the TA are closed to hunting. Seen a pissed hunter more than once. I would not eat the meat of any animal off the base either especially the elk. I know where the main herd spends most of its time (enjoyed watching them at night with thermal cameras) and there are 2 areas (3 on the base) that are NO GO due to depleted uranium munitions that the elk tend to hang out around. I've worked in all 3 more than once (before they knew they existed).

Again, I think stricter ID is a good thing. I'm sure 1 tribal card for the truck load will not change.
God Bless,
Scott

I have been tested and on several occasions & I had elevated levels of uranium. I have not been tested in probably 3 years now.

I love the diversity of YTC and the variety of wildlife that can be hunted (deer & elk only by state draw). In the time I worked out there there was a bear killed & I know 3 others who since have seen a second bear. I worked with 2 guys who each have killed cougar on the base.
God Bless,
Scott

There's hardly any deer tags for that unit anymore but I know there's still a few good bucks around.

Good 1  :chuckle: Trying to get others to waste their points on alkali so u have more chance elsewhere

Yakamas' have decimated this once great area and although its known by all nothing will be done so they don't have to admit its a problem all to common around the state perpetuated by those with the "right" to kill anything and everything...

I realize its only a small number(more like 7-8, the book tells the story) of guys doing it but the nation as a whole is condoning it by not regulating the dbags who give them a bad name. If they stopped them or limited them it would have to apply to all and they don't want to do that even though it hurts game populations.

If you aren't part of the solution your past of the problem.

Just thought it was funny someone was encouraging people to apply there when there are few deer and now we learn about uranium enrichment of meat :chuckle:

I'm completely serious in my thought here,  I say OPEN the alkali for OVER the counter deer and elk hunting!!  Give those few natives some competition, I bet that would piss them off.  They opened the dicky unit to elk because the natives were having at them all they wanted, open up the alkali too I say! Why not?
“In common with”..... not so much!!
